Coaching classes for G.C.E A/L Students – 2017

The coaching classes were conducted on 19th & 20th of April, 2017. It was conducted at Bt./ Thambilivil Maha Vidyalayam, Thambilivil.

The resource persons:  Thondamanaru Field Work Centre  Mr.Ulaganathan

 Lecturers for the workshop: Mr.R.Kuganathan, Miss. Kala Namasivayam, Mr.M.A.Rubanathan, & Mr.S.V.Mahendran and Teachers of Science stream and Mathematics stream graced the occasion with their  presence at the session.

Coaching classes for G.C.E. O/L Students -2017

 Vavuniya North

Coaching classes aim to provide learners with up-to-date knowledge and training skills, giving each learner the opportunity to develop their skills necessary for the examination. To  give awareness to the students on how to answer the questions, to become aware about various sections , to familiar with the formal and informal letters, to help to collect new ideas and information, to clear the doubts and problems and to provide an opportunity to share their experiences with the resource persons the coaching classes were organized.

A total of 118 students on the first day and on the second day a total of 118 students and on the 3rd day a total of 119 students participated in the coaching classes.

Play and Learn Centres:

Considering the education standard of the children in backward areas and the children who are unable to support for extra classes, Aaruthal planned and initiated evening classes for the children in nine centres.

 Scope and Intervention:

The scope of the intervention is confined to the primary school students in all 5 districts of the Northern Province and the intended intervention is through private and civil society initiatives. Nine Centers of “Play and Learn” were established from January 2017, at 09 selected preschool premises throughout the Northern Province with Grade-1 primary schools students. The centers were selected based on well defined criteria so that the most deserving children will benefit.

Priority Areas

  • in resettled villages,
  • from  war affected families
  • children without mothers
  • from disturbed families
  • from areas where the existing  primary schools lack basic facilities including trained primary teachers

to whom parental support is  lacking at home to children’s education

Center for IT Education – Job Skills Development & Training

The  Inauguration Ceremony commenced with the poojah of ‘Vejeyathasamy.’  Offerings to goddess Sarawathy were made and the priest’s devotional Poojah was taken place. The place of worship is beautifully decorated and illuminated. The Project was designed ad planned to be implemented initially for an year with the financial support of Ratnam Foundation, UK.

The very first computer skill development seminar was held on 18th December, 2017 at Aaruthal’’s  CITE, 125 Main Street, Jaffna,from 4:30pm t0 5:30 pm. Nearly 15 beneficiaries participated in  the seminar. Dr. K. Thabotharan from University of Jaffna facilitated the seminar and lectured on Social Media and the Opportunities.

The Seminar on Communicative English was organized and conducted on 24th December, 2017. Dr. Kannathasan, Department of English, University of Jaffna  delivered  a talk about the methods of teaching English and discussed  with the participants and  found out their difficulties.
